Wendy Ann Stanger is a textile artist specializing in creating unique surfaces using natural fibres with real dried flower inclusions. She works from her studio at Farfield Mill in Sedbergh, inspired by the rugged landscapes of Northern England and the intricate details of plant forms, she aims to capture nature's beauty by observing the life cycles of plants and the changing of the seasons.
I blend a range natural fibres to create unique textures and surfaces that reflect the beauty of the natural world. Bamboo, Linen, Nettle, Rose and Cotton are just some of the plant fibres used within my work. Dried and pressed flower inclusions are embedded between the fiber layers.
Using plants, leaves and flowers on a gel plate I print directly onto hand dyed fabrics. These are created into patchwork fabric collages where I combine the fibre papers and prints together.
Transform your living space with my custom lampshades, carefully crafted with a mix of natural fibres and dried flowers. I welcome commissions and can create lamps and shades using vintage frames with dried flowers and colours of your choice.
Blooming Fibres came about due to the use of blooms and fibres within my textile work. I combine all things plant! Dried plants, plant dyes, plant fibres and plant printing, of course I am passionate about all things fibre based, but more important are the aspects I find all consuming within nature.
I enjoy the process of combining natural fibres with dried flowers to create layered immersive images. Using the techniques of fibre fusion, silk paper making, gel plate printing, plant dyeing, machine embroidery and hand stitch to create bespoke textile wall hangings, framed artworks and feature lampshades.
With a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, I continue to absorb its essence at every opportunity.
